There are multiple paths to adoption in Alberta:
Government care: Adoption of a child that has special needs, is unable to live with their biological parents, and has been placed under the permanent care of Children’s Services;
Private adoption: Adoption of a child of a relative or spouse as well as through a private direct placement or licensed adoption agency; and/or
International adoption: Adoption of children from outside Canada.
